[ Tommy is here for some very important business, or at least as important as any business that can be trusted to him. ]

Hey. Pst. You. Yeah, you. Pay attention to your mirror.

We need to talk about the buddy system. Specifically, the buddy system for Mio because she’s got a sleeping curse that lets her sleep through freaking anything. For days. And we, geniuses that we are, left her behind.

Sleeping alone in the badlands with all kinds of shit chasing after us. The only reason she’s here is that she got teleported back to the group.

She needs a sleep buddy or something. Someone it’s okay to tie her to and make sure she doesn’t pass out in a bathroom and never come up. She told me to find her one so, volunteer or I wield my new power of telling someone what to do.

How about setting up a dead man's switch? [So to speak.] One of the spell crafters [she hates that those are a thing, tyvm] can put together an alert that goes off when she drops.

The whole idea is that she not die?!

It's a figure of speech for something that goes off when a human operator stops being involved.

There’s a time and a place for weird lingo. Why do you have to make everything sound so… non-human operator.

[Because she's a military AI.]

...It's a normal phrase.

“Human operator” going offline is not the normal way to talk about sleep.

I could attempt to see if my magic can do this, but so far it seems unlikely.

[So the Alchemist skill set doesn't work for this -- or Ange doesn't have creativity for magic spells, it could be that, really]

Does it make it any more feasible if someone else can give you something to work with?

I have a spell to detect magic - and since we're all being connected by that magic that keeps us in proximity, maybe that can be adapted to detect one of us.

I can't do anything about the alert part, though.

That will help. As for the alert, it can't be a subtle alert. Perhaps coming up with something impossible to miss will be a good idea. I could try to come up with something.

[Having something to work on is a lot of help, and Ange is eager to take the chance. Coming up with what's missing in this plan shouldn't be too difficult, she supposes]

On one hand, impossible to miss will keep this from happening again. On the other hand, if we need to lay low, that could complicate things.

[ But tagging it to an alert that'll only catch one person is probably overly complicated, and also means they're relying on one person to always be in shape to catch it. Something any of them can catch is less subtle, but if it's one or the other, he has to think that it's better not to leave someone behind than to worry so much about operational security that they leave her behind. ]

But something that takes that into account is going to be yet another complication, and putting this together might be complicated enough as it is. Probably best to come up with something and we can consider whether we can make it stealthy later on.

I imagine most situations where she may get left behind will be hectic and dangerous already. Stealth may not be an option.

[Or at least it wouldn't have helped during the Nazgul problem...but despite that she can't say he doesn't have a point there. It's worth thinking about]

How is this spell you mentioned like? How do you use it?

True. I'd say, if we can add stealth later, it wouldn't be bad to have the option, but our first priority is getting something together.

I...mostly just think about it and things start glowing. But I admit I haven't tried to think about it too hard yet, either, with everything that's been happening. [ It's pretty instinctual, but that doesn't mean he can't pay some closer attention to how it unfurls. ] I can show you?

I have seen someone glow -- Tim was glowing like a nightlight some nights ago.

That’s what I told her! Like it’s a big deal, and I’m kinda pissed we all missed it.

Good to know this blasted spell is good for something then. Has she gotten any food in her since she popped in here? Wasting's a risk with folks that sleep like that.

That is a great question. I have no idea because I didn’t ask.

Maybe we should have someone whose job it is to check she's with us anytime we move.

I...don't think it should be me. If I'm occasionally going weird and out of it, I might not be with it enough to check.

But if I am with it, and she's out, I can carry her. She's pretty small.

Okay. If she falls asleep and hasn’t picked someone to carry her, I’m picking you cause at least one of you volunteered.

I have people from home. Tim and Dick will make sure I don't get left behind.

So, yeah, I can help with the carrying, if she doesn't have someone else. We might need a backup on that too, just in case I'm messed up, but if I can do it I won't get tired easily.

I dunno if Small and Medium can carry you. Maybe together, but we should probably ask Caroline as a backup.

Mio's tiny. I think the carrying part - we could all take turns. But we need to check that she's with us.

Come to think of it, she's being real quiet and not yelling at me for making this post. Anybody got eyes on Mio?
