Black Water
[There's a moment of muttering and fiddling as Dean tries to figure out how to broadcast himself.]
So, uh, those Night-things were more hurt by holy crap than anything else, right?
We got water, and there're containers all around the cavern. Anyone got a rosary or some kinda holy relic? Because we could all start stocking up on holy water in case those things come back. I don't know how, uh, everyones... conditions... would react to that--
[Dean has spent the majority of his time so far deliberately ignoring any mention of being a shifter or a bloodsucker and he ain't about to stop now.]
--But I figure it's better than nothing, right?
Just head towards the pond with some kind fo sealed container. I'm gonna be camped out there for a while trying to make this work. I can teach people how to do it themselves, too, if you want. 'S probably a useful thing to know.
[There's an awkward pause, as if he doesn't know how to end the message.]
Uh, yeah. Let me know if you have stuff, or want stuff, or whatever.

Having people who know the incantation is great, man.
[Dean's always struggled with memorization, but he's managed to get some important shit to stick in his thick skull over the years.]
Never heard of using gasoline. You'll have to tell me about that one, sometime.
[See, a perfectly appropriate interaction. Dean's killing this pro-gay ally shit, if you ask him.]

Mostly works on forest creatures, nymphs, werewolves, harpies, the like. Propane and kerosene do the same trick - put a ring around your camp and half the forest maneaters will just pass you by. Terrible for nature, though.
[But not as bad for nature as humans retaliating against the monsters picking them off when they go into the woods and burning the whole forest down.]

I bet it would hide your scent, too.
Could be good for trapping things that don't like fire. Lure them in, light them up, go home before lunchtime.
[Dean hasn't gotten the chance to compare notes with a lot of other hunters. There may be something to this 'working together' thing after all.]
[(He very specifically does not think about why he hasn't worked with other hunters. John Winchester's one-man-war against the Supernatural is something he's been a part of his whole life, it wouldn't do him any good to start questioning it now.)]

[Which Dan doesn't blame those creatures for, whether it's because he's also nocturnal or because he'd probably want to hide from everything too.]
What's your go-to, iron and salt? I usually end up with rose and verbena, but I go after monsters more than I do ghosts and spirits.

[He subconsciously touches his necklaces. Along with the one he got from Sammy, he's gotten in the habit of wearing a few other symbols of protection over the years. Dad hates them, thinks they're too ornamental, but they've saved Dean's ass more than once.]

[Dan's not completely oblivious to the way Dean's acting around him, but they do have expertise to share, and nothing knocks people off a pedestal more than just hanging around them.]

[Dean is going to be very calm and cool about this, he decides. It's just like hanging out with any guy (ignoring the fact that Dean hasn't really 'hung out' with anyone in his entire life).]
