Black Water
[There's a moment of muttering and fiddling as Dean tries to figure out how to broadcast himself.]
So, uh, those Night-things were more hurt by holy crap than anything else, right?
We got water, and there're containers all around the cavern. Anyone got a rosary or some kinda holy relic? Because we could all start stocking up on holy water in case those things come back. I don't know how, uh, everyones... conditions... would react to that--
[Dean has spent the majority of his time so far deliberately ignoring any mention of being a shifter or a bloodsucker and he ain't about to stop now.]
--But I figure it's better than nothing, right?
Just head towards the pond with some kind fo sealed container. I'm gonna be camped out there for a while trying to make this work. I can teach people how to do it themselves, too, if you want. 'S probably a useful thing to know.
[There's an awkward pause, as if he doesn't know how to end the message.]
Uh, yeah. Let me know if you have stuff, or want stuff, or whatever.

[Henry looks shows off, rather dubious, the Sword of Obedience.]
Where I'm from it works on evil spirits, pins them into place. It may not work here, but it's worth trying.

Don't got anything holy, but if you got a list of useful things I can keep an eye out while I scavenge.

Pieces of fabric, trinkets, anything that looks like it could be repurposed or made into a tool. And ways to carry shit, that's probably smart.
[Dean has clearly either been trained for this kind of emergency, or he's been left on his own to scrounge around for useful things by necessity. Or both.]
no subject
Yeah, that much I figured. I meant like do you need any particular kind of herbs, or metals, or things in a certain shape. Like those stones with holes you can use to see faeries with if you got the knowin'. Things like that. Didn't you say something about salt somewhere else?

[ Look, where he's from, you want something holy, you need an actual priest. And while Dean is not giving off major priest vibes, that doesn't say a lot, given some of the clergy he's met. ]
no subject
Uh, no. Not a priest. Just a guy with a lot of experience with this kinda thing.
no subject
[ Really, a couple of the weirdo priests Lloyd knows would probably love Dean. ]

[Dean is clearly uncomfortable, but he's trying really hard not to show it.]

[ And here's Kevin, just going for it. ]
You're not the first hunter I've met, dude, it's alright. You haven't even tried to light me on fire one time yet.

[What? Stacia likes to learn things! Besides, Dean is going to have to deal with Being Allied With Supernatural Creatures at some point or another, and Stacia appears reasonably unthreatening as far as those go.]
What makes something a holy relic?
no subject
[Dean smiles at the girl's enthusiasm.]
Uh- could be a couple of things. Old shit with religious significance, stuff that belonged to a saint. For the purposed of blessing, you just need a prayer object of some kind. Something with religious significance, usually as a focus for prayer. Rosary's work best, as far as I know. I ain't never tried it with anything else, but I don't see why it wouldn't work in a pinch.

[The Bible is one of the many books Dan can recite cover to cover, finish to end, although in that book's case it's because his parents made him memorize it as a child. The issue with capacity is that Dan's issues with magic - or rather, magic's issues with him, as if magic is allergic to the Sartoris bloodline - means he can't perform a blessing.]
In my world, when we hunt monsters and spirits we typically use herbs and materials to ward them off. Rose, verbena, salt, iron, copper, cherry blossom, hell, even gasoline has its uses as a protective material. We should exchange notes, make sure all our bases are covered.
no subject
Having people who know the incantation is great, man.
[Dean's always struggled with memorization, but he's managed to get some important shit to stick in his thick skull over the years.]
Never heard of using gasoline. You'll have to tell me about that one, sometime.
[See, a perfectly appropriate interaction. Dean's killing this pro-gay ally shit, if you ask him.]
